Who is the best franchisor under $50,000?

December 2010 - Smart Investor Magazine

With both the WA and SA Parliament looking to enact laws that make it harder for franchisors to operate, and in recent years a number of franchisors failing (Baskin Robbins, Kleins, Quiznos etc), franchising is in the news for all the wrong reasons. One franchise brand is bucking that trend.

V.I.P. has been ranked by Financial Review’s Smart Investor Magazine for December 2010 as the number one franchise system under $50,000 for the second straight year, and has increased it’s overall ranking from 84% to 88%, with the number two franchise group on 75%.

Founder, Bill Vis says “Despite the economic climate, our services continue to be in demand due to Australians working longer hours and wanting more leisure time. We offer V.I.P. quality home and commercial services that enable Australians to spend more time with their familys, friends and generally doing the things they love.

“We see the survey results as an indication that our brand has stood the test of time and technology, and that our staff, systems and brand continue to be number one in the Australian market. It is great to be recognised by an independent survey; free of bias or commercial influence, unlike some other ‘Top Ten Surveys’ conducted by those in the industry.” Vis Said.

“Our sales proposition to people thinking about a change in careers is simple; if you don’t like your boss, aren’t earning what you think you’re worth and enjoy giving V.I.P. service to customers, then come out for a day in the field with an existing V.I.P. franchisee. You’ll soon see why we achieved this for the second straight year.”

V.I.P.Home Services joins Port Adelaide

December 2010

Major national home services company V.I.P. has joined Port Adelaide as a Premier Partner.

The V.I.P. brand will appear on the collar of the Power coaches’ uniforms and on the coaches’ box on match days, with a range of hospitality opportunities also built into the package.

V.I.P. provides services including commercial cleaning, home cleaning and garden maintenance and lawn mowing services. The company has more than 1,000 franchisees across Australasia, with its head office in Adelaide.

V.I.P. founder Bill Vis says his company’s sponsorship with the Power has three key aims – to expand business for its commercial cleaning arm; to recruit more franchisees and to promote the V.I.P. brand.

“We are very happy to be involved with the club and especially to have such a close association with Matthew Primus and his coaching team,” Vis says.

“Matt was a highly-respected player and is a fresh new face on the national coaching scene who we think will make a real impact. In many ways we are also in the coaching business with our franchisees, so we see a lot of synergies there.

“In broader terms, Port Adelaide provides a fantastic vehicle for us, both business-to-business and also to promote our brand.

“One of our other key needs – which surprises some people – is that we need more franchisees for our home cleaning, commercial cleaning and garden and lawn mowing divisions.

“We have an incredible amount of demand for our services and we are always on the look out for new franchisees to deliver those services. V.I.P. franchisees often earn above average wages and enjoy a better lifestyle because they can choose their own hours.  In fact, for the second year in a row, V.I.P. was ranked ‘Best Franchise System Under $50,000’ by the Financial Review’s Smart Investor Magazine.

Port Adelaide CEO Mark Haysman says the Power is delighted to add V.I.P. to the club’s second tier sponsorship level.

“We think V.I.P. is a brand that’s a really good fit for the coaches’ box and coaches’ collar,” Haysman says. “We are delighted to have Bill and his team come on board.

“Bill has told us he has an ambition to have V.I.P. on the club’s jumper one day and we look forward to the partnership developing to that level.”

The Power increased its corporate revenue by 9% in 2010 on the back of a 16% increase in corporate partner numbers.

The club is focused on increasing that further in 2011, using the momentum generated by the merger with the Port Adelaide Magpies.

V.I.P. appeared in the Sept / Oct 2010 issue of Business Franchise Australia magazine under the article entitled 'Spotlight on House & Garden franchises'.
